Saini Fined for Breaking Cricket Code of Conduct

Navdeep was penalized for breaking the ICC  Code of Conduct during the first T20I match against West Indies. The Indian spinner has been given an official warning by match referees because of his aggressive approach when he took the wicket from Nicholas Pooran during the fourth over of the match. 

He accepted the sanctions given to him. Since the offense committed by Saini was only on level one, he was only given a warning and a demerit point. 

Offense and Sanctions

“Saini was found to have breached Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to using actions or gestures which relates to user actions or gestures which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon their dismissal,” said the ICC

Saini was praised by former cricketer Amit Mishra praised Saini for his performance during the T20I match. “Navdeep Saini is a great talent. He needs to be groomed properly. He is performing well for the past year and has also been consistent in the IPL. He has grabbed the opportunity he has been given,” he said.

India Team’s Problem

Amit Mishra noted that India is having problems with their new players due to lack of experience. “There are a lot of youngsters in the team they will gain experience once they play. I don’t think we will face any problems in the long run. The little problems that we are facing are because they don’t have the experience.”

The spinner will make his debut in tonight’s match. India will play their first ODI match against the Windies in Providence Stadium, Guayana.
